The support is funded by the DWP and is intended to assist low-income families over the winter period.

On 30 September 2021 Government announced a Household Support Fund of £500 million to be distributed to local authorities in England to provide small grant assistance to low-income households over the winter period.

The scheme is open to low income working age residents of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council who are householders. The funding is for the period 6 October 2021 – 31st March 2022.
