We’re moving at a pace to support Year 11 to help them achieve their best possible GCSE results in the summer. We continue to build their confidence and resilience to tackle the challenging exam period ahead.
It is really important that parents understand the various types of support that is available, now and very shortly, to ensure our young people grasp every opportunity to do well, even when tired or lacking motivation at times! We really need parents to see what we are asking Year 11 to do as we challenge them as we approach the final examinations.
We would like to invite you to a vital Year 11 Parents’ GCSE Revision Information Evening on Thursday 3 February, 6-7pm with free fish & chips (or vegetarian option!) At that evening myself, and Heads of Department will explain the demands of each GCSE subject and make clear all the help that is being offered.
We will also ask for your support at home in some key areas. We will go through a number of key initiatives and expectations, some of which have been in place for some time, and three in particular that will be launched with Year 11 immediately following the evening:
- The Year 11 GCSE Revision Timetable - and the 2 hours study per night expectation
- The Year 11 Study Log - including Food and Sleep Logs to get ‘match fit’ for the exams
- The ‘Passport to the Prom’ - including basic expectations, and how to earn further rewards
-
After-school Enrichment Sessions - their importance
-
Homework - how we set in the GoogleClassroom, including Maths Sparx, Science GCSE Pod
-
1:2:1 Tutors - how we use the colleagues and expectations for students accessing their help
We’ll also show the Tote ‘Bags For Success’ that we’ll be issuing to Year 11 after the evening.
Please can we ask that you complete a short online form to signal your intention to come along on Thursday at 6pm, and to order your free fish & chips so I can arrange the catering. Please note the event is for YEAR 11 parents/carers only, not students! We have texted this online form link to Year 11 parents separately.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday please for a 6pm start.
