Dear Parent/Carer

Praising Stars 4: Termly Progress and Effort Reports – April 2022

We are pleased to provide your child’s Praising Stars 4 report, which students will be bringing home with them today. During the course of the academic year, you will receive a further two reports and have the opportunity to attend parents’ evenings, which provide you with the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress.

There is a parents’ evening linked to this reporting cycle, for year 11 only, as we enter the final few weeks of time preparing students for their GCSE exams, which commence in May.  The evening will take place on Tuesday 26 April 5.00-7.00pm and will be in person on the school site.

A separate letter will be provided to the parents of year 11 students, with information on how to book an appointment with teaching staff.

Enclosed are explanations about key features of our Praising Stars report in relation to how we report on effort, progress and the GCSE grading system.  This report gives you an overview of how your son/daughter is progressing.

An important part of the Praising Stars report is attendance and we know how important great attendance is to school.  It is also imperative that students arrive to school on time by 8.20am each morning.  I’m sure that you will appreciate the importance of good punctuality to maximise time spent learning in lessons, as well as being a crucial life skill as young people move into further education and then employment.

We also ask that students arrive to school with the basic equipment required to support their learning and full participation in lessons; including a school bag, pencil case with pen, pencil and ruler, and their school planner.

Please do encourage your son/daughter to be punctual and also bring the equipment listed above, when they return in the new year.

If your son/daughter’s Praising Stars report is positive, rest assured, we will celebrate this success with students.  A positive report also indicates that students are demonstrating those attributes of being Safe, Respectful and Responsible, as they go about their daily work either within the school or during their live lessons.

I trust you will find the information contained in the report helpful, but if you do require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.  Do of course discuss the report with your child too.

Finally, to ensure we know you have received this report, I would be grateful if you could complete the online Google form by following the link provided here https://tinyurl.com/kjunxmpb.  This will avoid unnecessary phone calls and/or letters home to check you have received this report.

I wish you and your family well over the festive period and thank you for your continued support as we drive Outwood Academy Normanby forwards; it is appreciated.

Yours faithfully

Craig Young
Vice Principal
