During the last week of term there will be a number of events taking place within the academy, which we wanted to draw your attention to.
Between Wednesday 1 December and Thursday 9 December, at break and lunchtimes, students will be able to collect three Christmas cards from Reception which they can then write in and send to members of staff or students, and post in a postbox within school. These cards will then be delivered by our student ambassadors during tutor time the following day, with the aim of spreading even more Christmas cheer within our school community!
As we do each year, we will be collecting items for Whale Hill Food Bank to support our local families and community over the holiday period. Each tutor group will create a food hamper, so we are encouraging students to bring food and other items in and welcome all contributions. We will regularly post on social media a list of items that Whale Hill Food Bank is particularly in need of.
Students can also bring in a food item and ‘swap’ it for a memory bauble, on which they can then write a personal message to a loved one, and place it on our Remembrance Christmas Tree.
On the last day of term, Wednesday 15 December, our Academy Ambassadors are hosting a ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ in school to raise money for the mental wellbeing charity MIND. Students wanting to support this effort can wear an appropriate Christmas jumper, of course making sure any incorporated humour is appropriate for a school setting, and make at least a £1 donation upon entry to school. The Christmas jumper should be in addition to standard uniform. Please, there is no obligation to purchase a jumper especially for this. Students can still contribute to MIND in return for altering their usual uniform slightly, perhaps with a Christmas hat, tie, or socks, or similar on that Wednesday.
Our Christmas Dinner day is also scheduled for Wednesday 15 December.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
