Important information for students, parents and staff - Vomiting and diarrhoea outbreak
We have been in contact with Public Health and taken advice from colleagues in the North East Health Protection Team following a high number of cases of vomiting and diarrhoea of students who are absent from the academy and some cases within in the academy (where students have then been sent home).
We are following all guidance from Public Health including: daily bleach based cleaning after school; regular cleaning of communal areas; additional cleaning where there has been a student who is unwell; encouraging good hand hygiene; asking all students and staff to wear face masks in communal areas; and asking students and staff who are unwell to get a PCR test.
Please support us in combating this illness by taking the following steps:
Wear a face mask in communal areas
Do not come into the academy if you are unwell with any vomiting or diarrhoea, or if you have a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss of taste or smell
Get a PCR test if you are unwell with any of the above symptoms
Do not return to the academy for 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea
Report the reason for absence to the Attendance team
Wash your hands with hot water and soap, use hand sanitiser when this is not possible
We want to keep our students, staff and visitors as safe as possible and are grateful for your support in doing this.
